Meet the Artist
Inspired by quiet coastlines, shifting light and the calming rhythm of the ocean, Melissa creates contemporary mixed media artworks that bring a sense of stillness into thoughtfully designed spaces.
Working from her Bedfordshire, UK studio, each piece is created by hand using layered textures, sand, resin and carefully balanced neutral tones.
My Story
Some of my favourite memories are tied to the ocean — childhood summers on the South African coast, salty skin, sandy feet and hours spent playing at the edge of the sea.
That connection followed me into adulthood. I became a PADI-certified Divemaster, exploring life beneath the surface and experiencing the ocean from an entirely different perspective. Travel, diving and time spent along coastlines around the world have shaped the way I see colour, movement, texture and light.
I’m continually drawn to the places where land meets water — oceans, rivers, lakes and waterfalls — and to the feeling those places leave behind. My work translates that into atmosphere rather than literal landscape: layered texture, shifting light and a sense of calm, depth and memory.
